I can honestly say that my massage
with Jan was the very best I have ever had; It was the experience of a
lifetime!
We met after a friend and colleague
returned to the hotel in Hilton Head and was beaming from ear to ear. He could
not help but spill the tale of his encounter with the enthusiasm of an excited
child. His experience was fabulous, and he too, was caught in the persona of
this wonderful person! You see, Jan Rose is truly an icon of the Vietnam
Generation!
The memory of her pictures and
articles in Life, Time and Newsweek remain fresh and vivid. You will recall
them too. Everybody does!
She first surveyed the landscape of
the physical me, careful to question every little detail. The conversation
began as her magic hands went to work. I was deliberately and thoughtfully
manipulated in the most professional manner. She challenged my taught muscles,
but did not inflict the pain that many unequal masseuses unknowingly dole out.
The conversation continued, as the art in her massage technique became more
apparent. Within the last six months, I have begun to see a Chiropractor. Being
very tall, I have poor posture. The Chiropractor has miraculously enabled me to
stand straight, perhaps for the first time in my life. Jan Rose shared a simple
technique ballet dancers use to accomplish this. I am a long way from a ballet
dancer, but I have practiced this incidental tid-bit with tremendous results as
my posture improves.
A few days later, the Chiropractor
said, "There's something different today. Your lower and middle back
aren't tight like they usually are." I told him of my experience with Jan
Rose, and he was truly complimentary of her great skill.
She probably worked on me for 1Hr 45
Min even though my appointment was scheduled for an hour. I was wonderfully
relaxed for several days and absolutely high on the experience!
Our conversation continued for
another hour and a half after the massage was finished. It is truly remarkable
how the click of a shutter can shape a person's very existence for a lifetime!
Perhaps if you are lucky, Jan will share the "Succession" picture
with you as she did with me. Marc Riboud took the picture of Jan passing the
flowery baton to her beautiful daughter, who makes Jan gush with pride with
only the mention of her name!
My experience with Jan was simply the best!
